Medtech Sprint

This year's MedTech Sprint came to an end! We're happy to announce the finalists for this year!

Finalist 1 - Bioscope Technologies

Bioscope Technologies is a machine learning software that operates as a remote clinic to address the issue of healthcare inaccessibility. It monitors various physiological activities in patients and sends simplified data to the patient's phones in real-time. More importantly, if the software detects any irregularities in the patient's physiology, it will send the collected data to the patient's doctor, who then decides if the patient needs to come into the clinic.

Finalist 2 - BloodMobile

Testing for cardiac diseases is a laborious procedure requiring centralized laboratories which are often not available in rural settings. At Bloodmobile, we are developing a point-of-care dual cardiac bio marker sensor which can detect the onset of cardiac disease and instantly provide actionable results for the care provider.

Finalist 3 - MedFlow

MedFlow is a program that not only provides rural communities with a flow of first aid and emergency care certification programs (Naloxone Administration, CPR, AED, first aid, etc) through accessible kiosks, but also with the necessary emergency tools and equipment specifically tailored to target each community’s prominent medical emergencies where specialists are not involved.

Finalist 4 - Automatic Prescription Machine

An Automatic Prescription Machine (APM) to tackle the lack of pharmaceutical accessibility in rural communities. It is a process of online prescription by a doctor, remote approval by a pharmacist, then an automatic dispenser of the drugs that patients desperately need. Accessible medication, regardless of where you are!

Finalist 5 - Metahealth

Rural and remote communities in Canada face unique challenges in providing access to quality mental health services. While barriers to care such as long wait lists and travel times have been partially addressed by telepsychiatry, tele-counselling, and other internet-based services, individuals lack a safe space to interact with their providers in life-like scenarios, engage with peers, socialize, make friends and maintain these relationships.  Metahealth is a web-application that takes advantage of a new frontier in technology, the metaverse, offering an immersive mental healthcare experience for rural communities
