UBC TiM EXECUTIVE TEAM
Medicine President
Kayoung Heo
Technology and medicine are increasingly becoming intertwined as they serve as an integral part in patient care and clinical management, allowing us to overcome barriers to providing optimal health care. I am a third-year medical student at UBC and I’m interested in how we can use innovative technologies to reduce gaps in access to health care in resource-limited settings. As Medicine President, I hope to create opportunities for students to explore the ways in which technology and medicine can synergize and inspire them to find out how they can contribute to this ever-changing society. In my free time, I like to create YouTube videos, paint, hike, and take care of my plant babies.

Novel medical technologies have the potential to revolutionize healthcare by offering more effective treatments, improving patient quality of life, and restoring the much-needed human connection between healthcare providers and patients. As a second-year medical student at UBC, I bring my background in bioinformatics, nanotechnology, and cancer research to the team. My goal is to promote and educate the community about innovations shaping medicine created by local and international scientists, physicians, and engineers. Doing so can hopefully inspire the next generation of STEM researchers to innovate and make impacts of their own in the field of medical technology. In my free time, I enjoy playing ball hockey, skateboarding, playing guitar, and making a killer chicken broccoli casserole.
VP External
Tarannum
Technology has been becoming an inseparable part of medicine with each passing day, bringing forward the potential to reach communities across the globe and provide the care that they deserve. My curiosity to learn about how technology is being used to improve patient care with quality and ease of access drove me to join this club. I am a recent UBC Science graduate and as UBC TiM's VP External, I hope to share my passion and expand the club's reach to students from all specializations, invite them to be a part of this metamorphosis, and provide a platform to get involved and make connections. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my family, learning to cook, and exploring my creative writing side!
